This proposal presents the work of Lucia Guadalupe Guillén, a young Argentinian artist based in Brescia, whose practice aligns closely with a curatorial research centered on feminine archetypes, material experimentation, and the subtle articulation of identity. Discovered through direct engagement with artists’ studios and international networks, Guadalupe represents a new generation of emerging voices whose work resonates with both contemporary sensibilities and deeper symbolic traditions.
Guadalupe’s artistic language is rooted in a tactile and layered approach. She combines crayons, pencils, acrylics, and unconventional materials—paper, plastic fragments, bubble wrap, thread—into compositions that, when viewed from a distance, merge into a unified surface. This visual fusion evokes the memory of woven textiles, recalling the artisanal gestures and domestic knowledge historically associated with women. Her works function almost as contemporary tapestries, where stitching becomes both a structural and narrative device: at times constructing garments, at others delicately tracing details.
Women are the constant protagonists of her series. Rather than focusing on facial expression, Guadalupe shifts attention to the body—its posture, gestures, and spatial presence. Hands, legs, and the positioning of the torso become vehicles of emotional and psychological insight. This choice aligns with a broader reflection on how identity is embodied rather than declared. The result is a subtle, poetic visual language in which each figure seems to emanate a presence that is almost sensory—what might be described as a “profumo,” an intangible aura.
Her recent works, such as Il Palloncino (2026), explore the idea of ascent and spiritual search. Here, female figures are depicted in a state of elevation, suggesting a return to a primordial dimension and a quest for inner essence. The work’s luminous and precious quality reinforces this symbolic trajectory toward lightness and transcendence. In Disparte (2022), the focus shifts inward: the act of observing oneself becomes central, inviting reflection on behavioural patterns and emotional awareness. This introspective dimension speaks directly to contemporary concerns around identity, consciousness, and self-perception.
Guadalupe’s practice engages deeply with themes of female resilience, motherhood, and transformation. Her figures embody a quiet strength, navigating the tension between personal introspection and social roles. This positions her work within a broader discourse on feminine forces—not as a fixed category, but as a dynamic field of experience and possibility.
From a market perspective, Lucia Guadalupe Guillén represents an “Emerging High-Potential” artist. Her work, positioned within the primary market, maintains accessible pricing while showing consistent growth. Her collector base is expanding, particularly among younger audiences attentive to figurative practices addressing identity and the female body.
This exhibition proposes to situate her work within a curatorial framework that bridges materiality, narrative, and the evolving representation of women—offering both aesthetic engagement and conceptual depth.
